I am writing to recommend Ray Evans and the Covenant Construction and Development Company to you for your consideration in your future building needs.
My experience with Ray began late in 2002 when my wife and I were retiring after serving 37 years in Ohio as a Pastor/Home Missionary for Southern Baptists. We had acquired 4 acres of land off of Hwy 87 south of Graham and wanted to build our retirement home here.
In our search for a local builder, we received very positive recommendations that Ray’s company was one of the best in the area. We met with him and discussed our situation. We did not have a floor plan and wanted a home with a “walk out” basement because our lot sloped towards the back of our property. He was very helpful in showing us some local houses and floor plans. In fact, the one we liked that suited our needs was one of Ray’s relatives who even shared their original drawings with us. An architect friend in Ohio “tweaked” the drawings to fit exactly what we wanted.
Our home was built in 2003 and Ray was very accommodating in coordinating the various workers in getting the foundation work all done during a very wet, rainy spring. He allowed us to use a group of Texas and Ohio Volunteer Christian Builders who had helped build two church buildings for us in Ohio. They did the framing and roof trusses for our house. Ray’s crew did an excellent job on the heating, cooling, and electrical and even allowed us to purchase a lot of the lights and wiring from friends in Virginia at practically wholesale prices—since they, too, had helped us in Ohio. Ray’s company subcontracted much of the interior work of drywall, trim, hardwood flooring, etc until the house was finished and ready to be occupied.
We love our home. It is all brick and on the ground floor it has 3 bed rooms, 2 baths, living room, dining room and very large kitchen plus a small office/sewing and wash room, with an attached two car garage plus a 12 x 18 ft. screened in porch just off our dining room area as well as an open air deck for a gas grill. The basement was not finished originally except for a bathroom and an outside concrete deck under our screened in porch area. Ray’s men installed a separate heating/cooling unit for the basement area.
The work was well done, and we feel we have a quality home.
